Harris County Emergency Services District No. 48 is Hiring a Paramedic Near Houston, TX

Job Title: Paramedic

Attendent Starting Pay: $25.04/hour

In-Charge Starting Pay: $28.76/hour

Harris County Emergency Services District No. 48 ("HCESD No. 48" or the "District") is seeking applicants for open positions of Full-Time Paramedic.

HCESD No. 48 is a combination of Fire and Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") District, providing services to residents of HCESD No. 48 and Fort Bend County Emergency Services District No. 1. Our service area is twenty-nine (29) square miles located on the west side of Harris County, between the cities of Houston and Katy, Texas. The population is approximately 150,000 persons. HCESD No. 48 responded to over fifteen thousand (15,000) Fire and EMS incidents in 2022.

The Paramedic is an At-Will employee and serves at the discretion of the Fire Chief and the HCESD No. 48 Board of Commissioners.

Requirements include:

  1. Shall possess a Texas Department of State Health Services ("TDSHS") certification as an EMT‑Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic. Associate Degree Paramedic preferred.
  2. One (1) year of direct 911 experience as a lead Paramedic and National Incident Management System ("NIMS") certifications: ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800b.
  3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ("ACLS"), Pediatric Advanced Life Support ("PALS"), and International Trauma Life Support ("ITLS") or recognized equivalent within six (6) months of hire date.
  4. All Employees shall possess and maintain certification with the American Heart Association ("AHA") Health Care Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ("CPR").
  5. Completion of HCESD No. 48 oral board interview.
  6. Completion of HCESD No. 48 precept program.
  7. Ability to move, lift, and move patients in multiple applications.
  8. Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operation Course ("EVOC") every two (2) years.
  9. High School diploma, Associate Degree preferred.
  10. Approval of the District Medical Director.
